RICHMOND, VA (AP) -- Virginia is for lovers. And apparently for vain drivers, too.
A nationwide survey finds Virginia has the highest percentage of drivers with vanity license plates: 16 percent.
The study from the Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators ranks Ohio 14th, with a little under 5 percent of Buckeye State motorists having plates that say something.
Some say vanity plates are popular because drivers want to share their personalities.
Others point out that they don't cost a whole lot. Vanity plates in Virginia are just ten dollars extra.
Ohio charges $35 a year for personalized plates.
