  • AAMVA’s Awards Programs foster a tradition of excellence in the motor vehicle and law enforcement community. The awards allow AAMVA to honor individuals, teams and organizations who have committed their time and resources to safety initiatives, outstanding service to the community, the best in public affairs and consumer educational programs, and excellence in customer service initiatives throughout North America.

     

    Chair's Award of Excellence

    The Chair’s Award of Excellence is a special honor given at the discretion of the AAMVA Chair of the Board to an individual or organization whose contributions and service have left a lasting impression on the AAMVA community. The award is presented each year at AAMVA’s Annual International Conference.

    Martha Irwin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Highway Safety

    The Martha Irwin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Highway Safety is presented annually to an AAMVA member jurisdiction employee, or other individual whose primary function is directly associated with highway and traffic safety efforts.

    Nomination Guidelines   

    Chief John R. Batiste, Washington State Patrol; 2012 Recipient of the Martha Irwin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Highway Safety
    • AAMVA member jurisdiction employees, or other individuals whose primary function is motor vehicle or highway safety, are eligible.
    • Interested jurisdictional members are encouraged to submit nominations to their chief motor vehicle or chief law enforcement administrator who will then submit one nominee per jurisdictional agency to AAMVA Director of Law Enforcement Brian Ursino at bursino@aamva.org

    Public Affairs and Consumer Education (PACE) Awards

    The PACE Awards Program recognizes public relations, public affairs and consumer education excellence among the motor vehicle, law enforcement and traffic safety agencies across North America.

    They recognize creativity, cost effectiveness and the ability to reach consumers with a well crafted, measured and executed message.

    2013 PACE Awards 

    AAMVA has expanded the PACE awards categories to better recognize the many varied ways public affairs and communications professionals serve the AAMVA community. Take a look at the full list of categories and complete the 2013 PACE Awards Application form, available here. To apply, complete the first page of the document, the questionnaire on the second page, and include any supporting documentation or materials. Please limit your entries to no more than six submissions to allow us to properly evaluate all the entries we receive. For more information, contact Claire O'Brien at cobrien@aamva.org.

    Eligibility 

    The competition is open to all AAMVA members in good standing. Entries for the 2013 Award must have been produced between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012. No entry may be submitted for judging in more than one subcategory.Entries are limited to six total submissions per agency. Entries must be submitted (postmarked) by March 25, 2013.

    Awards Presentation 

    Overall Division winners (highest score in the division) will be presented with their awards at the 2013 Annual International Conference; individual category winners will receive their awards at the appropriate regional conference.

    IDEC Examiner of the Year Awards

    Annually, AAMVA and our International Driver Examiner Certification (IDEC) Board recognize outstanding examiners through the IDEC Examiner of the Year awards. Each member jurisdiction nominates one examiner for outstanding performance as a driver's license examiner.  

    IDEC Outstanding Examiner of the Year Award

    To emphasize the importance of what these examiners do, the IDEC Board decided to create a new award. The “Outstanding Examiner of the Year” award. This award honors one examiner that has gone above and beyond their duties as a driver’s license examiner.
