  • An AAMVA Yahoo! Group is an e-mail and Web-based discussion group—a forum to exchange ideas, concerns and questions. Use the AAMVA Online Survey Tool to survey the entire membership, but use these Yahoo! Groups to chat with fellow members informally and share information.

    Please take a moment to read the Listserve Rules and Etiquette.

     

    You may participate solely via e-mail, solely via the Yahoo! Groups Web site, or through a combination of both e-mail and the Web site.

    To participate via e-mail:

    1. Send an e-mail to the appropriate Yahoo! Group moderator requesting to join the group. 
    2. When you receive an e-mail invitation, click "Reply" and then "Send". DO NOT TYPE ANYTHING IN THE SUBJECT LINE OR THE E-MAIL MESSAGE. 
    3. You will then receive a "Welcome" message via e-mail that you have joined the group, and you may begin sending messages to the group. Enjoy! 

    To participate via the Yahoo! Groups Web site and benefit from features such as searching past discussions

    See the instructions below. Set-up varies slightly depending on whether you currently have a Yahoo! ID for a personal email account or another reason, or if you do not.

    • If you do NOT currently have a Yahoo! ID:
      1. Using your internet browser, visit http://groups.yahoo.com/ 2.Go to New Users (left side of screen) and select "click here to register"
      2. Create your own Yahoo! ID (note: your selected ID may already be used by someone else; if so, you will be prompted to enter a different ID.
      3. Create your own unique password.
      4. Reenter your password to verify.
      5. Complete the security questions. (these will be used if you forget your ID or password)
      6. Complete personal information (this is required) including the e-mail address supplied for your invitation to participate in the Yahoo! Groups.
      7. There is no need to check off the personal interest boxes unless you desire.
      8. Confirm your ID and e-mail address.
      9. Press continue to Yahoo! Groups.
      10. You will be back at the main screen.
      11. Go to getting started/eGroup Member and click on "Link your accounts to a Yahoo ID here"
      12. Click on "Don't have a password? Forgot your password?"
      13. And enter your e-mail address.
      14. Yahoo! will then e-mail you an authorization code. Enter it in the appropriate field, and follow the on-screen directions.

    You then will be able to view your groups and begin participating via the Yahoo! Web site.

    • If you ALREADY have a Yahoo! ID:
      1. Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ 2.Go to getting started/eGroup Member and click on "Link your accounts to a Yahoo ID here"
      2. Click on Don't have a password? Forgot your password?
      3. And enter your e-mail address.
      4. Yahoo! will then e-mail you an authorization code.
      5. Enter it in the appropriate field, and follow the on-screen directions.
      6. You will then be able to view your group(s) and begin participating via the Yahoo! Web site.

    Although using the Web to participate in the groups is not required, you may want to visit the site initially to change your settings or profile.


    Commercial Driver Licensing 

    This Yahoo! Group will keep you in the loop on discussions of commercial driver licensing issues from around the U.S. This is a closed forum, open to jurisdictional representatives only. Canadian jurisdictional representatives are welcome.

    This Yahoo! Group will keep you in the loop on discussions of driver licensing and control issues from around the U.S. and Canada. This is a closed forum, open to jurisdictional representatives only.

    This Yahoo! Group will keep you in the loop on discussions of Financial Responsibility/Compulsory Insurance issues from around the U.S. and Canada. This is an open forum, free to jurisdictional members, insurance industry partners, and service providers.

    Government Affairs

    As a means to further enhance communications between the AAMVA membership regarding state legislative and regulatory issues, the association has set up this forum through Yahoo! Groups. The association is hopeful that this service will help members seeking input on state legislation, program administration, or other regulatory issues communicate with other jurisdictions to gain additional perspectives and insights. Updates on activities and issues in Washington will also be provided through this service.

    Information Technology (IT)

    This Yahoo! Group provides a forum for discussing Information Technology (IT) issues of interest to the AAMVA community. Participation in this Yahoo! Group is limited to members and associate members of AAMVA.

    The focus of the IT Yahoo! Group is to exchange information within the AAMVA community on the types of information technologies used by AAMVA member and the lessons-learned during the implementation and operation of these technologies. For example, the Yahoo! Group provides a quick and effective way to determine which jurisdictions have used or plan to use a particular technology. In addition to discussion of IT issues, the Yahoo! Group will also be used to distribute AAMVA’s The Week in Review.

    In addition to the exchange of e-mail messages, the IT Yahoo! Group offers participants a number of other ways to interact, including reviewing messages in a threaded discussion format and on-line discussions. All web-based features can be found listed vertically on the left-hand side of your screen.

    Law Enforcement (LEC) Committee

    The AAMVA_LEC Group is designed to enhance communication among the AAMVA law enforcement community, as well as between this community and those in the motor vehicle agencies, the insurance industry and service partners. AAMVA will use this forum to provide updates on activities considered in Washington, and members are invited to post questions about policy matters and provide updates as appropriate on legislative, legal and regulatory developments in your jurisdiction.

    Communication among jurisdictions serves to enhance uniformity and reciprocity, strengthening our industry and improving our service. This Group is another channel for Region IV Administrators and their staff to network, ask questions, conduct quick surveys, find information and improve inter-jurisdictional relationships and communication.

    Unified Network Interface (UNI)

    The Unified Network Interface (UNI) Yahoo! Group exists to enhance communication between all AAMVAnet  UNI sites regardless of specific hardware requirements. This facility will allow subscribers of this service the opportunity to exchange ideas and information related to the UNI product. This service may also be used by AAMVAnet to directly communicate the availability of new UNI releases and UNI revisions.
