Motorcycle Safety
The Honorable Tom Dravland, Secretary, South Dakota Department of Public Safety
Motorcycle rider fatalities have increased dramatically within the past decade. In 1995, 2,227 motorcycle riders were killed compared to 4,553 in 2005, a 104% increase. While motorcycles represent a small portion of registered vehicles and licensed driver/riders, driver license agencies must take appropriate highway safety countermeasures to reduce these fatalities. This session will examine improved motorcycle licensing practices for the reduction in motorcycle rider fatalities.

Deadwood
For your evening enjoyment, AAMVA will provide buses to Deadwood. The entire city of Deadwood is a national historic landmark. Authentic turn-of-the-century street lamps light the way through accurately, carefully restored architecture. The city of Deadwood, seat of Lawrence County, in the Black Hills of Western South Dakota was incorporated in 1876. The city was named for the dead trees that were found in the narrow canyon (Deadwood Gulch), where you'll find the historic Main and Sherman streets, with many streets built up its steep sides.

Administrators' Roundtable: Cultivate Your Peer Network
Facilitator: Ms. Hillmer
Too often overlooked and undervalued benefits of membership in an association such as AAMVA are the ability to form and cultivate a peer network and the opportunity to hear from and exchange pertinent information with fellow professionals. These benefits are at the heart of Chair Hillmer’s theme, Communicate, Collaborate, Face the Future Together. Make the theme come to life during the AIC Administrators' Roundtable, where you won’t find a podium or a PowerPoint. You will find an open floor and an open microphone and the chance to share, educate, listen, learn and debate with your AAMVA peers.
