Let me be the first to welcome you to our Nation's Capital, Washington DC, on July 26-31, 2007 for the AAMVA Region I Conference! This year's theme, Navigating Real Challenges, will allow us to explore Real ID and the challenges it will bring to all jurisdictions throughout the nation. We are currently working to bring you informative and fun-filled workshops that will keep you on the edge of your seats.
The JW Marriott Hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue is a prime spot to host our conference festivities. Not only is the hotel in the heart of downtown DC, but it is blocks away from the White House. The hotel is also about 15 minutes from the Reagan National Airport; thereby affording you the ability to quickly dive into city activities immediately upon arrival.
With a new, energetic Mayor, DC is a city brimming with excitement. Therefore, we will be allowing you to build your own extracurricular conference schedule to take advantage of activities that interest you. Whether you fancy visiting one of our numerous museums, monuments, parks and gardens, historic sites and houses, galleries or quaint shopping areas, our world-class metrorail system can get you there quickly and safely. In addition, we are planning social events that include the world-renowned Capital Steps. Although the conference focus will be all about business, the atmosphere will be all about fun.
We are tickled pink to be hosting you and look forward to sharing our city with you. Whew...I can hardly wait! See you there!
Sincerely,
Lucinda Babers, Director
DC Department of Motor Vehicles,
and Region I President
