2006 Annual International Conference

The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators held its 73rd Annual International Conference (AIC) Aug. 27-31 in Burlington, Vermont. More than 500 attendees, including motor vehicle administrators and law enforcement personnel participated. The conference theme, "Collaboration: The Road to Success," truly came through during the course of the week's information sessions, town hall meetings, and other networking events. National Radio Hosts Participate in Conference

On Monday, Aug. 28, national celebrities Tom and Ray Magliozzi—also known as Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers—spoke about an exciting new AAMVA partnership that can help motor vehicle agencies get their messages out. Click and Clack currently host National Public Radio’s most popular show, "Car Talk," where they take a unique approach to car issues every week with an audience of four and a half million people. While there are still a few issues yet to be worked out between AAMVA and Car Talk, Tom and Ray want to help DMVs put better drivers on our roads and give a friendlier face to the DMV. In the works is a possible animated television series on Public Broadcasting, posters, and more. Howard Grossman, executive producer of Car Talk, discussed some of these exciting ideas at the session. Look for more information on the AAMVA/Car Talk partnership in the future.
