State to State Status and History Request
Task 9 will allow U.S. jurisdictions to verify driver licenses, permits, and ID cards presented for identification purposes for all U.S. drivers. The jurisdiction will be able to compare the information on a jurisdiction issued document to the electronic driver record in the jurisdiction of record.
Two types of verification may be requested, the status or the history request. The status response provides information about the person and the license. The history response contains the same information in the status, along with details of any accidents, convictions, and/or withdrawals.
The most common usage of the transactions will be to validate an out-of-state license, permit, or ID card submitted to a jurisdiction when a driver applies for a license in a new jurisdiction. In addition, the transactions will also be available for ad-hoc status and history inquiries.
