Checking Muffler Presence and Integrity in Heavy Trucks
The American Trucking Association (ATA) has provided procedures to help enforce Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation 325.91 and/or similar jurisdictional rules that require heavy trucks to have an exhaust system in good working order. These procedures show how to determine, without a noise meter, whether a vehicle has an effective muffler.
