Statement
by the President Bush on Death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
President Bush (June
8): "Now Zarqawi has met his end, and this
violent man will never murder again. Iraqis can be
justly proud of their new government and its early steps
to improve their security. And Americans can be
enormously proud of the men and women of our armed
forces, who worked tirelessly with their Iraqi
counterparts to track down this brutal terrorist and put
him out of business." | |

African
Growth and Opportunity Forum 2006 Secretary Rice (June
6): "AGOA is founded on irrefutable facts
about how to fight poverty effectively. It is a
fact that real development is only possible when
economies are expanding and creating jobs. It is a
fact that economic growth is driven by hardworking
entrepreneurial citizens who are free to compete
and trade in open markets."

Action
Needed To End Modern-Day Slavery Secretary
Rice: "Human traffickers prey on the most
vulnerable and turn a commercial profit at the
expense of innocent lives. The State Department's
efforts to end this evil trade exemplify
transformational diplomacy. We work with
international partners to secure the freedom of
those who are exploited and call on governments to
be effective and accountable in prosecuting those
who exploit." Remarks at the Report Release
