Greg Dozier, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS), has appointed Robert G. (Rob) Mikell, Esq., as Deputy Commissioner effective March 1, 2007. Mikell most recently served as Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). While Mikell has served at GOHS, Highway Safety and Driver Services have enjoyed a successful working relationship while collaborating on statewide public safety projects such as the Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act (TADRA), the Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP), Joshua's Law and mature driver issues. Rob also led the 2005 Implied Consent Notice Task Force whose work helped lead to the passage of House Bill 1275, enhancing the ability of law enforcement officers to identify and prosecute impaired drivers. Mikell will provide leadership and oversight for agency operations. He will work closely with Commissioner Dozier to identify methods to strengthen the entire agency while focusing on the values of communication, accountability, respect, and ethics.
