New Hampshire Begins Issuing New Vehicle Registrations
On July 18, 2008 the New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will begin issuing new motor vehicle registrations at its headquarters office in Concord. After a three to five day period of printing the new registrations in Concord, these new registrations will be phased in at all Motor Vehicle substations. All on-line town/city Municipal Agents will follow. The new registration system includes new technology to speed up processing, improve security and aid law enforcement and inspection stations. The new certificate will be printed on white 8 1/2" by 3 3/4" paper with the state seal in the background. It will contain all of the essential information as the current registration certificates as well as some newer features, such as a bar code. The project also includes placing 564 new printers in service at DMV headquarters, substations and with Municipal Agents. All Municipal Agents will operate on-line. Currently, some Municipal Agents, including those in Manchester and Nashua, are not on-line. They mail in their paperwork to the DMV, where data must be re-entered by hand. In the future, law enforcement officers and inspection stations will also be able to scan in that data. New Hampshire has 1.4 million registered motor vehicles. The new registration process will be used for all passenger cars, motorcycles and trucks, including commercial vehicles. It will not be used for boat registrations.
