On July 24, at approximately 3:00pm EDT, AAMVA headquarters experienced a complete power outage due to a fire in the building's electrical system. The building was immediately evacuated and the fire was quickly extinguished, causing no harm to personnel or damage to AAMVA property. Due to the lack of power, the building owner directed the immediate closure of the building. AAMVA headquarters' operations were suspended and services such as e-mail and phone were unavailable.
During this outage, all AAMVAnet network services and applications, such as CDLIS, SSOLV, PDPS, NMVTIS and all other AAMVA-provided external network and application services, remained fully operational. All AAMVA (888-AAMVA80) help desk calls were transitioned to mobile coverage and monitoring of external network and application services remained operational.
AAMVA staff remained in contact with building management through the incident. Power was restored at 8:20am EDT and the building reopened at 10:00am EDT. AAMVA staff returned headquarters services and operations (including e-mail and phone service) to normal operating status by 10:00am EDT, July 25.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
