Florida Budget Recommendations Focus on Ensuring Highway Safety

Florida Governor Charlie Crist’s budget recommendations for Fiscal Year 2010-11 include critical funding for the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV), representing a continued commitment to public safety in Florida.

The governor’s budget recommendations continue funding for the department’s core mission, including more than $1.2 million for additional equipment for Florida’s state troopers, more than $1.3 million for upgrades to the telephone systems at three Florida Highway Patrol regional communications centers, and more than $1 million to make critical repairs to department facilities throughout the state.

The Department will continue to work with the Governor’s office, members of the legislature and their staff as the state’s budget development process moves forward. DHSMV remains committed to carrying out its mission through the most efficient and effective means available.
