AAMVA Announces New Law Enforcement Director

AAMVA is pleased to announce that Brian A. Ursino, currently Assistant Chief, Washington State Patrol, will join the association as Director of Law Enforcement on March 1. During his tenure in Washington, Ursino received a number of awards and was invited to serve on a variety of state and national law enforcement groups, including national board member of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials' (AASHTO’s) safety committee, and several International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) committees. He also chaired the Impaired Driving Subcommittee of IACP’s Highway Safety Committee. At the state level, Ursino served on the Impaired Driving Advisory Council, the Law Enforcement Information Exchange Governance Board, and the Strategic Highway Safety Plan “Target Zero” Development Team. He chaired a number of committees at the state level, including panels on problem oriented policing, the board of the senior managers organization, and an accountability driven leadership group. Ursino also won the Governor’s Most Distinguished Manager Award, the Governor’s Award for Quality and Performance, the Chief’s Award for Professional Excellence, LE Officer of the Year, and the People Who Shine Traffic Safety Award. He is a graduate of City University of Seattle, where he completed a B.S. degree in business administration and an MBA in leadership and management. He also attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy and the Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in Government program at Harvard University.
