    What You Need To Know

A Night at the State Fair – Join us for a fun evening at the State Fair, in the Exhibit Hall.  Play games – from the dunk tank to bean bag toss – and support a great cause. Gaming tickets will be available for $5 each or 10 for $40. What’s a State Fair without an eating contest? – Can you eat more than 5.1 pounds of corn in 7 minutes? Fortunately, you probably won’t have to as the current Corn Eating World Champion won’t be at the AIC. But, do you have what it takes to be the AAMVA Corn on the Cob Champion? More details on this fun event to follow.

Proceeds from A Night at the State Fair benefit the Special Olympics Iowa. Since 1968, Special Olympics has been offering women, men, and children with intellectual disabilities year-round training and competitions in Olympic-style sports. Special Olympics helps individuals with intellectual disabilities overcome barriers through sports. Every day the Special Olympics empower athletes to shatter stereotypes and exceed their personal bests on the playing field and in life.

We also welcome any donation you wish to make to be used as prizes. Please note that A Night at the State Fair is our fund raising event this year.  If you would like to send your donation in advance, please send to: Ms. LaVonne Short | Iowa Department of Transportation | Office of Vehicle & Motor Carrier Services | 6310 SE Convenience Blvd | Ankeny, IA 50021

Iowa State Banquet Sock Hop -- Find your poodle skirt, break out the leather jacket and join us for a rockin’ Iowa State Banquet Sock Hop. After we install our new Board, we’ll rock the night away to the sounds of the 50's and 60's.

Shake, Rattle & Keep On Rollin’  --  Were you born to hand-jive? After the business of the banquet concludes, join us for a Sock Hop Dance Contest and Malt Shop. Pull out your old Grease movie and let Danny, Sandy, and Cha Cha teach you some tricks, or swing by the MorphoTrust booth during Exhibit Hall hours for some tips. (Points will be awarded for best outfits, too!)

  • Law Enforcement Travel Funding

AAMVA is providing funding for eligible law enforcement executive and command level officers to attend the AIC.  The grant allows for two people from each state law enforcement agency — one should be the Chief Executive OR an executive/command level designee and the second person should be the commander of the commercial vehicle enforcement operations. You can apply for funding by downloading and submitting the application. Applications are due by June 10, 2015. Please contact Brian Ursino if you have any questions.
