Discipline: Driver Licensing & Control

Mission

The Driver Licensing and Control Discipline provides a forum for consideration of driver licensing, identification and education issues of importance to the Association and its members. Its primary functions are to develop, communicate and coordinate the implementation of uniform policies, procedures, guidelines and standards that assist jurisdictions with their driver licensing and control activities.

Goals:

  1. Develop policies, procedures and model programs that encourage the effective and efficient administration of jurisdictional driver licensing and control requirements.
  2. Develop and implement uniform guidelines and standards that will assist jurisdictions with the implementation of model programs;
  3. Facilitate the exchange of ideas and information on issues of concern to the driver licensing and control, law enforcement, education, research, judicial and governmental communities.
  4. Work toward the development of a tool to allow efficient and effective uniform information exchange.
  5. Develop and implement education/training programs that will help our member jurisdictions professional development efforts.
  6. Promote liaison with other safety-related organizations.
  7. Work towards the establishment of North American programs that will create fair, uniform and effective treatment of the driving public across all national and jurisdictional lines.
