Thatcher Named Bureau Chief at Motor Vehicle Division in Montana

Montana Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) Administrator Dean Roberts announced this week that Kristine Thatcher is the division’s new Field Operations Bureau Chief. Thatcher has been the Regional Manager at the MVD’s Great Falls office for about a year. Prior to that, she had been a driver license examiner since 1991, when she first joined the Division. She is a certified driver examiner and commercial driver examiner. “I am excited to have a person of Kris’ caliber as the new bureau chief,” Roberts said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the job.” In her new job, Thatcher will be in charge of the bureau that oversees licensing of all drivers, including commercial drivers. Through its 48 statewide offices, the bureau also investigates driver licensing problems, performs vehicle inspections, and issues ID cards. The bureau has more than 60 employees. Thatcher replaces Anita Drews-Oppedahl, who retired in March.
