Applicant Arrested after Alabama DL Examiner Discovers 66 Outstanding Felony Warrants
An Alabama man applying for a driver's license was sent to jail Sept. 20, 2006, after an Alabama driver's license examiner discovered the applicant was wanted on 66 outstanding felony warrants. Driver's License Examiner Reba Thompson discovered the outstanding felony warrants during a routine criminal check of the license renewal applicant. The warrants, all issued in neighboring Georgia, were confirmed by Georgia authorities. As a result, Troy Allen Blair, 38, was taken into custody without incident by Alabama state troopers, with the assistance of a Guntersville police officer. The charges originated in Spalding County, Ga., for 21 counts of financial transaction card fraud, 43 counts of deposit account fraud, and two counts of first-degree forgery. “Each day in Alabama, driver license staff serve the public not only by issuing a secure license, but also by identifying and helping bring to justice wanted criminals,” said Driver License Division Chief Maj. C.R. Howell.
