Questions and answers between the AAMVA membership and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regarding REAL ID implementation have been integrated into a searchable database on the AAMVA web page. This online tool enables you to search by topic/section of the Rule, using free text, jurisdiction/company name, and run reports. You can access the database at http://www.aamva.org/REALIDFAQ/Welcome.aspx. This database is restricted to AAMVA members. You will need to log in to access the site. If you need a Web password or help with the database, contact Webportalsupport@aamva.org. A user guide and a tutorial for this database can be found online.
Submitting Questions to DHS
Submit your questions regarding REAL ID directly to REALIDFAQ@aamva.org. This ensures incoming queries from jurisdictions are captured and can link back to responses from DHS.
How AAMVA Will Post Responses to Questions
Currently, DHS is analyzing incoming questions and submitting answers in batches to AAMVA. Response times from DHS vary depending upon the length and scope of the individual questions, particularly if DHS must pull additional resources (i.e., legal, technical, etc.) to develop responses. As a result, not all questions posed by the jurisdiction or associate member are answered at the same time.
In the interest of turning around the information from DHS in a timely manner, each batch of responses from DHS will be posted in the FAQ database and the jurisdiction will be notified via e-mail, TWIR and on the AAMVA Web site. Search the database by your jurisdiction’s/ organization’s name to see what DHS has submitted in response to your request(s).
