Trooper Who Stopped Timothy McVey Joins AAMVA at AIC
Join AAMVA at the Annual International Conference (AIC) in Orlando, Florida. AAMVA will be celebrating 75 years of safety and security. The AIC will take place from Aug. 24 to 27, 2008 at Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. Charlie Hanger, current sheriff of Noble County, Oklahoma, is presenting as a part of the Law Enforcement presentation on DMV and LE partnerships (Aug. 26, 1:30-3:00pm). Hanger is known for his role as the Oklahoma State Trooper who stopped Timothy McVey following the Oklahoma City bombing. His remarks will coincide and support the goal of the session, which is to highlight the relationship between highway safety enforcement at roadside and the value of data and resources provided to the officer as he conducts a traffic stop. Hanger will relate his experience with the Timothy McVey stop and talk about how he interacts with DMV on a daily basis. See Hanger and other speakers such as U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary E. Peters at the 2008 AIC. Program and registration information is available on the AIC Web site.
