The UNI product resides on a site's host and fills an "interface" role between a site's application system and the telecommunications network (AAMVA). In this interface role between application and network, UNI provides both application interface functions as well as network interface functions. Due to its rich set of functions, the UNI software facilitates the development of site applications by allowing the sites to focus on the application specific functions only.
