AAMVA recommends the adoption of the Uniform Certificate of Title Vessels Act (UCOTVA) for the titling of watercraft. UCOTVA was recommended by the United States Coast Guard and provides consumer protection by ensuring watercraft owners are appropriately identified, damage to the watercraft impacting its integrity is properly disclosed, theft is deterred, and fraud is prevented.
