    Torre J. Jessup
    Commissioner, North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles

    Torre J. Jessup was sworn in as Commissioner of Motor Vehicles by N.C. Supreme Court Justice Michael Morgan on July 6, 2017.

    He most recently served as vice president of public policy and external affairs at Blue Bloodhound, a start-up technology company serving the trucking industry. Prior to that, he was director of the Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization for the U.S. Department of Transportation.

    Jessup also served as regional administrator for the U.S. General Services Administration's Southeast Sunbelt Region, and was district director for 20 years in the office of former North Carolina Congressman Mel Watt.

    Jessup is a Winston-Salem native and has been a resident of Mecklenburg County for more than 20 years. He is a graduate of Morehouse College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with a concentration in criminal justice.
