AAMVA’s vision of Safe Drivers, Safe Vehicles, Secure Identities, Saving Lives! is at the core of our vehicle programs. AAMVA and our members promote uniformity, reciprocity, and interoperability in all areas of vehicle registration, titling, motor carrier, and other vehicle management programs. Through the Vehicle Standing Committee and its related working groups, AAMVA members develop standards, best practices, and guidelines for vehicle registration and titling for many types of vehicles, as well as other vehicle regulation progams, including autonomous vehicles. AAMVA also operates the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), which is designed to protect consumers from fraud and unsafe vehicles and to keep stolen vehicles from being resold.
