    Trooper Kyle Deatherage was struck and killed by a tractor trailer while making a traffic stop on I-55 near Litchfield.

    He had parked his motorcycle on the shoulder and was speaking with the driver of the vehicle when he was struck.

    Trooper Deatherage had served with the Illinois State Police for three years. He is survived by his wife, 4-year-old daughter, and 10-month-old son.

    Constable Adrian Oliver was killed in an automobile crash in Surrey, British Columbia, when his unmarked patrol car collided with a tractor trailer in an intersection causing him to suffer fatal injuries.

    Constable Oliver had served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for four years. His father and brother are also RCMP officers.

    Trooper Andrew Fox was struck and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 30 and Theme Park Way, in Hanover County.

    He was wearing a reflective vest while directing traffic that was leaving the Virginia State Fair when he was struck by an SUV. He was transported to VCU Medical Center in Richmond where he succumbed to his injuries.

    Trooper Fox had served with the Virginia State Police for five years. He is survived by his wife.

    Trooper Blake Coble was killed when his patrol car collided with a tractor trailer at the intersection of SR 168 and Blackhawk Road in South Beaver Township, Beaver County, at approximately 10:00 am.

    He was transported to Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

    Trooper Coble had served with the Pennsylvania State Police for 23 years and was assigned to Troop D, Beaver Station. He is survived by his wife and two children.

    Sergeant Hoopes had served with the New Jersey State Police for 14 years and was assigned to the Casino Gaming Bureau's Investigation Unit. He is survived by his wife and two children.

    Trooper Gene Demuth was struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. 64 in Nash County, while attempting to deploy spike strips during a pursuit at approximately 7:45 am.

    The pursuit started when officers from the Raleigh Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, who was wanted on multiple charges, including two counts of kidnapping, immediately fled at a high speed. Trooper Demuth was struck by the subject's vehicle as he attempted to deploy the spike strips. The man continued to flee but was taken into custody a short distance away after he crashed into a guard rail.

    Trooper Demuth had served with the North Carolina Highway Patrol for 12 years. He served his country as a United States Marine from 1988 to 1992. Before joining the patrol he was an officer with the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Enforcement Section. Trooper Demuth is survived by his wife, son, mother, sister, brother, niece, and two nephews.

    Officer Kenyon Youngstrom succumbed to a gunshot wound sustained the previous day while making a traffic stop with another officer on southbound I-680 in Alamo at approximately 8:20 am.

    Officer Youngstrom had stopped on the shoulder of the freeway to check on deer carcass when the other officer radioed to him that he was pulling over a vehicle for an obstructed license plate. As the vehicle approached Officer Youngstrom's position he signaled for the driver to pull in behind his parked patrol car.

    After the vehicle stopped Officer Youngstrom began speaking with the driver as the other officer parked behind them. Officer Youngstrom was still speaking with the subject when the man suddenly pulled a handgun and shot him in the head through the window, knocking him into the travel lane of the highway.

    The other officer immediately returned fire, killing the subject.

    Officer Youngstrom was transported to John Muir Medical Center where he remained on life support until succumbing to his wound.

    Officer Youngstrom was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the California Highway Patrol for seven years. He is survived by his wife, four children, mother, and five siblings.

    Trooper Eric Workman and Corporal Marshall Bailey were shot and killed after they stopped a vehicle for reckless driving at the commuter parking lot adjacent to I-79, in Clay County, at approximately 8:30 pm.

    The troopers determined the subject was intoxicated and placed him under arrest and handcuffed in front of his body. The subject was searched and placed in the back of the patrol car when he was able to reach a concealed 9mm pistol that was not discovered in the search. He shot both troopers inside of the vehicle and took Corporal Bailey's service weapon.

    After climbing out of the vehicle he shot a tow truck driver who had been called to the scene to impound his car. The tow truck driver was able to get away from the scene and call for help.

    The subject then fled on foot and set up an ambush in a ditch. He later opened fire on officers from multiple agencies who responded to the scene, wounding a Roane County deputy in the arm, hand, and stomach. The responding officers returned fire, killing the subject.

    Corporal Bailey succumbed to his wounds at the scene. Trooper Workman was transported to CAMC General Hospital where he remained on life support until succumbing to his wounds two days later.

    Trooper Workman had served with the West Virginia State Police for 20 months.

    Trooper Marshall Bailey was shot and killed after he and another trooper stopped a vehicle for reckless driving at the commuter parking lot adjacent to I-79, in Clay County, at approximately 8:30 pm.

He then drew a concealed handgun and shot both troopers inside of the vehicle, killing Trooper Bailey.     The man then fled on foot and setup an ambush in a ditch. Approximately one hour later he opened fire on a Roane County sheriff's deputy who was searching for him, wounding the deputy in the arm, hand, and stomach. The injured deputy was able to return fire, killing the subject.

    Trooper Aaron Beesley died after falling from a cliff while performing a search and rescue mission in Salt Lake County.

    Trooper Beesley, a tactical flight officer for the agency, had been assisting in the search for two missing teenage hikers along the Mount Olympus Trail. The helicopter located the two and Trooper Beesley was placed on the ground to assist them. As the two teens were airlifted to safety Trooper Beesley was left at the scene.

    When the helicopter returned to retrieve Trooper Beesley he could not be located. He was located at the bottom of a 90-foot cliff a short time later. It is believed he was attempting to retrieve a backpack when he fell from the trail.

    Trooper Beesley had served with the Utah Highway Patrol for 13 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.

    Trooper Amanda Anna was killed in a single vehicle crash along Route 37 in Hastings, New York.

    At approximately 11:25 pm, her Chevrolet Tahoe patrol vehicle went out of control on a curve and overturned several times after striking a guardrail. Trooper Anna was transported to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at about 5:25 am the following morning.

    Trooper Anna had served with the New York State Police for six years. She is survived by her 4-year-old son, mother, and fiance.

     

    Trooper Javier Arana, Jr.

    Trooper Javier Arana was killed in an automobile crash as he responded to assist a vehicle pursuit in El Paso at approximately 1:30 a.m.

    During the response Trooper Arana's vehicle collided with a pickup truck near the intersection of Joe Battle Boulevard and Bob Hope Drive. Trooper Arana's patrol car burst into flames upon impact.

    Trooper Arana had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for two years. He is survived by his wife and children.
     

    Trooper Tony Radulescu

    Trooper Tony Radulescu was shot and killed while making a traffic stop on a driver of a pickup truck on State Route 16 in Kitsap County shortly before 1:00 am.

    He had radioed in his location and the pickup truck's license plate and description to dispatchers. When dispatchers were unable to contact him for several minutes, a Kitsap County sheriff's deputy was sent to check on his status and discovered him laying wounded outside of his patrol car. He was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma where he succumbed to his wounds a short time later.

    The vehicle that Trooper Radulescu had stopped was found abandoned on a country road approximately three hours later. A SWAT team deployed to the registered owner's home and as they approached, the suspect committed suicide.

    Trooper Radulescu was a US Army veteran and had served with the Washington State Patrol for 16 years.
