    Mike Dixon
    Senior Director, Division of Motor Vehicles, Colorado Department of Revenue

    Mike Dixon is currently serving as Immediate Past Chair of the AAMVA International Board of Directors and was President of the AAMVA Region 4 Board of Directors from July 2018 to July 2019. He has been the Senior Director for the Division of Motor Vehicles in the Colorado Department of Revenue since July 1, 2011. Colorado’s DMV provides its residents with driver and vehicle services as well as providing operational support to 64 counties for vehicle services. Annual revenue from the services he oversees - issuing over 1.4 million DL and ID credentials, 6.1 million vehicle registrations, among other services - exceeds $1.7 billion.

    Dixon was the Executive Sponsor for the Colorado DRIVES project which replaced decade’s old DMV IT systems for driver and vehicle services; and today he’s leading the DMV’s expansion of online services. He was also chair of the Colorado DRIVES County Governance Committee during that project.

    Prior to joining the Colorado DMV, Mike served in the United States Army for over 28 years with assignments throughout the United States and worldwide including Korea, Europe and Southwest Asia. A Master Army Aviator rated in multiple helicopters, he was fortunate to serve as the commander for two Army Aviation companies and a battalion as well as the 1st Aviation Brigade. He also served in key staff positions in organizations from Battalion to Army level in the United States and Overseas.  Mike retired as a colonel in 2010.

    He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy (West Point), a Masters in Business from Webster University, and a Masters in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
