AAMVA has created a National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) Law Enforcement Subcommittee. NMVTIS is an electronic system designed to protect consumers from fraud and keep stolen vehicles from being resold. NMVTIS captures specific pieces of vehicle information from state motor vehicle titling agencies, automobile recyclers, junk and salvage yards, and insurance carriers into one system. NMVTIS Law Enforcement Access is intended to provide local, state and federal law enforcement with the information necessary to investigate, deter and prevent vehicle-related crimes.
NMVTIS Jurisdiction Enforcement Laws
The AAMVA NMVTIS Law Enforcement Subcommittee maintains a record of NMVTIS jurisdiction enforcement laws. This information is intended to help law enforcement, DMV investigators, and administrators in keeping informed with laws that may assist with NMVTIS enforcement and regulatory efforts.
NMVTIS Law Enforcement Access Tool (LEAT) Video
The NMVTIS Law Enforcement Subcommittee has developed a video to educate law enforcement and DMV investigators on the benefits of utilizing the NMVTIS LEAT. This five minute video highlights the information and resources provided by NMVTIS LEAT and may supplement a vehicle crime investigation training program and/or used to train staff who are new to the use of the NMVTIS LEAT.
