    Tom McClellan
    Administrator, Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division, Oregon Department of Transportation
    Tom McClellan was named Oregon's DMV Administrator in March 2008. iHe manages a biennial budget of about $170 million and 850 employees serving the public from a headquarters building in Salem and 60 field offices throughout Oregon.

    McClellan started with ODOT in 1983 as a college intern assigned to a large computer project at DMV. He later worked two years in local government for Jackson County (Medford) before taking an analyst position with the State of Oregon in 1986.  

    McClellan worked in the state budget office at the Department of Administrative Services from 1987 through 1995 as a senior budget analyst and budget supervisor. His agency assignments included Higher Education, Veterans Affairs, Department of Corrections, Department of Human Services, State Scholarship Commission, and numerous boards and commissions. He also worked one year for the State Employment Department as budget and performance manager.

    In 1996, McClellan returned to DMV on special assignment and was hired as manager of Information Technology Services that year. IT Services merged with Program Services in 2003, and he managed the combined group until 2007. McClellan served as Acting DMV Administrator for two 4-month periods in 2005 and 2007-08.

    McClellan serves on the board of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), which supports motor vehicle agencies in the United States and Canada.  He also serves on the board of a nonprofit that operates a camping and conference center at the base of Mount Hood. McClellan spent many years coaching his sons’ athletic teams and assisting community groups such as the United Way.

    McClellan is a graduate of Linfield College with a joint degree in political science and English. He received a Masters degree in Management from Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University.
