Ignition Interlock Program Working Group

Ignition Interlock Working Group 2023The purpose of the Ignition Interlock Program Working Group is to review and update AAMVA's 2018 Ignition Interlock Program Best Practices Guide and develop an updated guide based on current research and information. This will assist state agencies without a program by providing a blueprint for implementing a model program. It will also assist agencies with programs in place to improve their programs. The group will also recommend a model for jurisdiction reciprocity to facilitate ignition interlock program participation and ensure that individuals cannot circumvent requirements by moving from one state to another. A model program may include a recommendation for a national technology solution.

The new best practices guide is expected to be published in fall 2023.
