Kara Templeton

Kara N. Templeton has been with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) since 2000 and currently serves as the Deputy Secretary for PennDOT’s Driver and Vehicle Services. In her capacity as Deputy Secretary, Kara is responsible for all aspects of driver license and motor vehicle operations within the Commonwealth, which includes overseeing safety programs for 10.2 million driver license and ID cardholders and nearly 12 million vehicles. Prior to becoming Deputy Secretary, Kara served as the Director of PennDOT’s Bureau of Driver Licensing, Director of PennDOT’s Information and Fiscal Services Office, the Manager of the PennDOT Customer Call Center Program, and the Manager of PennDOT’s Photo License Program.

For over two decades, Kara has been an active member of the AAMVA community and has participated in various AAMVA working groups and committees, such as the Driver Committee, Automated Vehicles Working Group, and Technical Advisory Working Group.
