Shelly serves as the Director of the Michigan Department of State’s Quality and Customer Experience Bureau. As the Bureau Director, she directly oversees the Customer Information, Customer Records and Employee Engagement Divisions responsible for quality assurance and training programs, increasing employee engagement, and creating and updating the knowledge base/procedures for the Department of State teams providing driver license, personal identification and vehicle support. This Bureau also supports external customers through call centers, enforcement of proper issuance of driver and vehicle credentials and the overall integrity of customer records. Prior to this role, she served as the Director of Election Operations spearheading the implementation of major statewide initiatives like Early Voting, Electronic Return of Military Ballots, State funded postage, Redistricting and Automatic Voter Registration.
She is a proud graduate of Cass Technical High School, Michigan State University and Spring Arbor University, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising, a Master of Business Administration focused in Strategic Leadership and is a certified Project Manager.
Shelly lives in Ada, Michigan as a happy mother of two beautiful boys, sister of two older siblings and partner in crime to an amazing spouse. She strives to translate operational needs into efficient processes focused on results while including diverse perspectives to facilitate long-term success. Additionally, she likes communicating with memes, strong coffee, Spartans and a good laugh.
