AAMVA announced today that two jurisdictions’ – Utah and Maryland – mobile driver license (mDL) solutions are participating in the association’s Digital Trust Service, with more jurisdictions expected to follow soon. The Digital Trust Service (DTS) provides the framework to ensure mDLs remain safe, secure, and interoperable. Jurisdictions across North America are implementing mDLs and AAMVA is providing the tools and infrastructure to ensure digital credentials are trusted wherever they are used. Through our DTS, we are helping issuing authorities and industry partners to build a robust, reliable, and trustworthy ecosystem for the issuance and use of secure digital identities. The DTS is a single location for relying parties to obtain true issuing authority certificates providing assurance that the credential being presented is an official standards-based identity and interoperable across state and provincial lines and international borders.
